ABC Hopeful for a New Game Show

So it appears America has yet another network game show to be watchful for this year. The Hollywood Reporter announced that ABC has ordered 6 episodes of "The Six" from Merv Griffin Entertainment. The show is originally called "What? Where? When?" and is completely different than anything we’ve seen in the states. In the Russian version, a team of six in-studio players spin a wheel and answer the question the wheel lands on. This "logic based" questions are sent from viewers and the six get 60 seconds to answer it. A right answer earns them a point and a wrong answer gives the other side a point, as well as that home viewer a prize.

MGE and ABC are making the necessary adjustments in order to make it more prime-time friendly in the US, but the aspect that will remain is the questioning style. This game show isn't built on trivia but logic. Creators of the game felt that groups of 6 would stress teamwork rather than traditional game show knowledge.

“It’s much more accessible knowledge and intelligence than you would think at a first glance that translates to the viewers at home, and they can play along,” Merv Griffin Entertainment’s Roy Bank said. “It’s a show about teamwork and interaction.”
