Ratings, Nothing Personal

Leno vs. O'Brien may have been an NBC dream as far as ratings are concerned. A year ago Leno was given the prime-time 10PM spot, in exchange for his regular 11:30PM show. This resulted in the adjustment of fellow night talk show host O'Brien. Long story short, Leno's show didn't exactly get the ratings the network expected so, NBC moved him back to his original 11:30PM slot. O'Brien, who has a larger following of younger viewers than Leno, was then bumped off the network entirely.

Letterman, who in the 90's battled with Leno during the 11:30PM slot, takes shots at Leno, and NBC. "He's a complete boob. He can't help himself," Letterman said on his show last week. Despite these jokes by Letterman and other night show host, such as Kimmel, Leno remains No. 1 in the late-night, 11:30PM ratings.

Now apparently, O'Brien is taking the cable route and is headed to TBS some time in the near future. He is also scheduled to appear on "60 Minutes," to discuss his opinion of the Leno controversy in depth.
